Welcome

The right counsel, before you need it.

Most legal trouble doesn't show up loud. It shows up as the contract no one read, the estate plan no one updated, the lien that wasn't filed, the disagreement no one wrote down. Scheer Legal is the firm you call before that quiet trouble becomes loud.

Why Scheer Legal

Four things that change how a legal engagement actually feels.

You can hire a competent attorney almost anywhere. Here's what changes when you hire this one.

01

You get the attorney

Not a rotating roster of associates. Dominic personally handles your file from intake through resolution — the same lawyer you spoke with on day one is the lawyer arguing your position.

02

Plain English, always

Legal advice that survives the meeting. We translate Florida law into the actual decisions you have to make — and we put it in writing so you can act on it without a translator.

03

Skin in the game

Dominic ran his own business for over a decade before law school. The advice you get comes from someone who has actually signed payroll, negotiated with vendors, and survived partnership disputes — not just read about them.

04

Transparent fees

Flat fees for defined work. Hourly with caps where the scope is open. Contingency where it makes sense. Always quoted in writing before we start — no surprise invoices, ever.

How We Work

Four steps. No mystery.

From the first call to the signed deliverable — here is exactly what working with Scheer Legal looks like.

1

The first call

Short, free, no pressure. You describe your situation; we tell you whether it's something we handle, what it's likely to cost, and what your next move is — even if that move isn't us.

2

Scope & quote

If we're a fit, you get a written engagement letter with a flat fee (or capped hourly), a clear list of deliverables, and a timeline. Nothing begins until you sign.

3

The work

We draft, we file, we negotiate, we litigate. You get real updates in plain English at every meaningful milestone — no waiting weeks to find out where things stand.

4

After delivery

For estate and business clients, we stay available for the questions that come up months and years later — most issues are short and free to answer when you already have a plan in place.

Dominic L. Scheer, Esq.

Before law, Dominic was a world-champion race car driver and a small-business owner for more than a decade. He went to law school because he wanted the people on his side of the table — entrepreneurs, families, builders — to finally have one of their own.

Today he runs Scheer Legal out of South Florida. Clients get a direct line, plain-English answers, and a lawyer who has actually built and run a business himself.

Common Questions

Quick answers before you call.

What most clients want to know in the first ten minutes.

What does Scheer Legal handle?

Estate & legacy planning, business law, outside general counsel, Florida construction liens, personal injury & auto accidents, and civil litigation & dispute resolution. Across Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Monroe Counties — including the Florida Keys.

Where is Scheer Legal based and what areas do you serve?

South Florida and the Florida Keys. We represent clients in Miami, Coral Gables, Brickell, Doral, Aventura, Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, West Palm Beach, Key Largo, Key West and surrounding communities. See our service areas for the full list.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. Initial calls are short, low-pressure, and free of charge. The goal is to figure out whether we're the right fit and give you a real sense of next steps before any engagement is signed.

How do your fees work?

Estate planning and business formation are typically flat fee, quoted in writing after the consultation. Outside General Counsel is flat-fee monthly retainer or hourly with a cap. Personal injury is contingency — no fee unless we recover. Litigation is hourly with regular budget updates. No surprise invoices, ever.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Scheer Legal serves clients fully in English and Spanish across South Florida and the Florida Keys, with a complete Spanish version of every page on the site. Visite nuestro sitio en español.

Can I work with Scheer Legal remotely?

For estate planning, outside general counsel, and many business matters, yes. We work statewide with secure document signing, video consultations, and remote-friendly intake. Some matters require in-person work in specific counties; we'll tell you upfront when that's the case.

How quickly will I hear back from you?

Most initial inquiries get a same-day or next-business-day reply. Urgent matters (construction lien deadlines, accident claims, time-sensitive litigation) get treated as urgent — say so in your message and we will move accordingly.

Is Scheer Legal a big firm or a solo practice?

Scheer Legal is a boutique South Florida law firm founded and led by Dominic L. Scheer, Esq. That structure means direct attorney access, transparent fees, and continuity — the lawyer you talk to on day one is the lawyer who handles your file.

Estate Planning Isn't Just for the Wealthy

The biggest myth in Florida estate planning is that it's for millionaires. The numbers — and the reality of what an estate plan actually does — say otherwise.

The #1 Reason Florida Estate Plans Fail

Most failed Florida estate plans aren't failed because the documents were bad. They failed because nobody ever finished the funding.

Advisors, Agents & Estate Planning

Estate planning works best as a team effort. Here's how the lawyer, financial advisor, insurance agent, and CPA should actually coordinate.
